Apple has today released for download iOS 18.6 beta 1 software beta to developers, while the first iPadOS 18.6, macOS 15.6, visionOS 2.6, tvOS 18.6, watchOS 11.6 betas are also on offer.
The new betas are the first of their kind, and we expect that there will be a few more of the ilk ahead of the final release to the public.
We expect that to happen within the next few weeks, even as Apple continues to work on its next big update — iOS 19. That software won’t be ready until this fall, so for now, all eyes are on iOS 18.6 and the similar updates for the rest of Apple’s hardware ecosystem.
Developers can now download the new beta updates via the Settings apps on their respective devices, while we expect that a public beta will also follow suit sooner rather than later.
The iOS 18.6 release is likely to be one of the last before we see final version of iOS 19 ship, but this release is a much smaller update. It’s still too early to know exactly what has changed in this beta, but we can expect the usual bug fixes and security updates.
The iOS 18.6 update for the iPhone, of course, joined the iPadOS 18.6 update for the iPad, macOS 15.6 for the Mac, visionOS 2.6 for the Apple Vision Pro, tvOS 18.,6 for the Apple TV, and watchOS 11.6 for the Apple Watch.
